In today's world smart phones seem to be able to do everything from sending and receiving e-mail and instant messages to making the morning coffee, or at least showing the user the GPS location of the nearest Starbucks. With all of the advanced functionality of smart phones today, the choice of what device is best for ones needs can at times be complex. For one who is new to the world smart phones it can be quite confusing at first. There is, however some basic features of smart phones which are common to pretty much all devices in this category of technology.
One of the first basic features of a smart phone is that it has the ability to not only made and receive phone calls, text messages, and voicemail, but that it also had the ability to access the Internet. Most smart phones have a built-in browser, which is proprietary to the maker of the phone. However, recently major browsers have begun to develop versions of their software which will run on smart phone operating systems. This allows the user to choose what Internet browser they are most comfortable with.
Another basic feature of smart phones is the ability to access digital media. This means that the user can load music, video, and pictures onto their phone and be able to enjoy all of their media while on the go. Digital media devices have been around for many years, but with smart phones incorporating the functions of these devices, users now have less items to carry around, less expense to invest in technology, and more convenience by being able to access, share, and utilize their digital media all from one easy-to-use interface. Almost every smart phone on the market as the ability to access digital media files.
